BACKGROUND
The Sorghum Translational Genomics Program at KSU requires a bioinformatician for analysis of large amounts of sequence data from a diverse panel of sorghum lines. Details of the project may be found at http://coding.plantpath.ksu.edu/stgp/.RESPONSIBILITIES
Assemble megabase quantities of short sequence reads against the sorghum genome sequence. Identify SNPs. Lead comparative genomic studies and prepare publications. Carry out other bioinformatics analyses including genotyping and association studies.REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in a relevant biological or analytical science. Experience in one or more programming languages including Perl, bioinformatics training (sequence manipulation, microarrays, genomics, DNA markers); quantitative and statistical skills, good oral and written communication skills.PREFERENCES
Training in genetics, especially population genetics. Familiarity with databases and SQL will be highly regarded.TERMS
Appointment is for one year, renewable for up to three years. Position is available January 1, 2008.LOCALE
