DESCRIPTION

Currently, we are seeking a protein engineer to take part in in silico protein modification projects and actively participate in the development and validation of our in-house molecular simulation software. The successful applicant for this position will start in February of 2008.

REQUIREMENTS

Required (Applicants will not be considered without the following skills)
o Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or Immunology
o Demonstrated experience in rational protein design or directed evolution
o Thorough knowledge and practical experience with structural biology of antibodies
o Demonstrated experience with bioinformatics techniques
o Greater than 2 years of either industrial or academic postgraduate experience in a protein biochemistry a related field
o Ability to communicate in the English language (spoken and written)

Further skills (The following skills are an asset to qualified applicants)
o Experience with homology modeling and docking software
o Experience using molecular modeling and visualization packages (AMBER, CHARMM, VMD, Chimera, PyMol etc.)
o Knowledge of the Linux operating system
o Experience in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Tcl, etc.)
o Should know about: AAGGAGAACGATCGTGAATGG

RESPONSIBILITIES

o Perform feasibility studies for proposed protein engineering projects
o Propose and carryout internal and customer projects
o Write analysis tools in the perl and Tcl/Tk scripting languages
o Closely interact with the software development team to improve and advance the functionality of our in-house modeling/analysis package
o Assist in the selection of commercial software tools to supplement our in house package
o Participate in the preparation of patents and publications
