BACKGROUND:We develop next generation tools for large-scale analysis of genetic variation and function, creating the way for tomorrow’s medicine. Our goal is to reduce the cost of human gene sequencing to a few thousand dollars per genome.
RESPONSIBILITIES:You will develop apparatus to improve system performance of our leading next generation technology including algorithm development and mathematical modeling.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
• Identification of avenues for optimization of the system performance of a leading next-generation DNA sequencing technology. May include all aspects of the technology, from sample preparation and instrumentation to data analysis.
• Data analysis support for internal R&D groups from different departments.
• Mathematical modeling to help to predict system performance based on key performance drivers.
• Development of improved analysis methods and algorithms.
REQUIREMENTS:Education and Experience:
• High degree of numeracy; educational background in scientific or mathematical subject, preferably to a PhD or post-doctoral level.
• Proven track record in data analysis and scientific research; emphasis on statistics and statistical inference, optics or image analysis is a plus.
• Programming ability and background in numerical programming (for example, C/C++, Matlab, Python, Fortran)
• Basic understanding of bioinformatics
• Good communication skills and ability to interact with scientists from a variety of backgrounds.
