BACKGROUND:We develop next generation tools for large-scale analysis of genetic variation and function, creating the way for tomorrow’s medicine. Our goal is to reduce the cost of human gene sequencing to a few thousand dollars per genome.
RESPONSIBILITIES:You will be responsible for software development for the data management and analysis of a leading next-generation DNA sequencing technology. This will involve the integration of data analysis software with LIMS systems, development of web-based user interfaces for the data analysis software and the data management infrastructure as well as the development and implementation of efficient data storage formats and export filters.
REQUIREMENTS:Education and experience:- Educational background in a numerate or technical discipline (natural sciences, computer science, mathematics)
- A background in software development on Linux
- Programming background in C/C++, Perl, Python, relational database programming and SQL, web-based CGI programming (AJAX, Perl/CGI, php), XML and tools
- Familiarity with data compression algorithms (C/C++ code optimization), workflow management tools (particularly with a focus on life sciences) and LIMS systems an advantage
- A track record in scientific programming and high-volume data analysis, Windows programming and a PhD in scientific area and advantage
- You should be self-motivated and be able to prioritise your work
