    BACKGROUND

    Bioinformatics group in the Research Center of Womens Diseases at Sookmyung Women¡¯s University is recruiting enthusiastic and talented computational scientists and graduate students. We have various computational and experimental projects for the direct impact on the fields of drug discovery, protein engineering and transcriptome analysis.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    The scientist position: Implementation of machine learning algorithms, Biological DB construction, Constructing midlleware platform for virtual screening tools for drug discovery
    Ph.D. student: Bioinformatics programming, Computer-aided drug design, Protein modeling, etc.

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. Strong C/C++, JAVA and Perl Programming skill
    2. Application of various machine learning algorithms to biological data analysis
    3. Experience on the application of molecular docking and scoring AND/OR 2D/3D chemical descriptors to drug discovery projects
    4. Linux system administration

    Strong candidates should have proven records for at least two or more of the above requirements.

    PREFERENCES

    Excellent command of English
    Fast learner

    TERMS

    Minimum 2 yr for the scientist position (extendable).
    Ph.D. program consists of 3 year course work and 1-2 year research phase (total 4-5 years).

    COMPENSATION

    For both scientist and grad student position, we provide competitive salary (DOE).
    PhD-level scientists can expect >$38,000 plus alpha (US dollar).
    Candidates with Master's or Bachelor's degree holders can expect >$20,000 plus alpha.
    Health insurance and arrangement of affordable housing.

    Tuition remission, medical insurance and stipend of >$15,000 are provided to Ph.D. students.

    The scientist position is open to any qualified candidates with Maste's or bachelor's degree as well as Ph.D. level scientist. The deadline for the application is January 20th, 2008.
