SAIC-Frederick, Inc., a subsidiary of SAIC, is the Operations and Technical Support Contractor for the National Cancer Institute at Frederick (NCI-Frederick) a federally funded research and development center. SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is one of four related NCI contracts on-site and serves as the infrastructure support for the entire center. The contract is the largest single research contract awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and it is the department's only Government-owned, contractor-operated facility contract.DESCRIPTION
SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is currently searching for a Biostatistician III to provide support to the NCI's Behavioral Research Branch located in Rockville, Maryland for the development and analysis of new and existing statistical methodology to solve quantitative problems in cancer control and cancer surveillance studies. Methods of interest include competing risks, join point methods, data mining including recursive partitioning, parametric and semi-parametric survival models and computationally intensive statistical techniques. Performs monte-carlo simulations to determine properties of statistical techniques, run illustrative examples of methods, and prepare written results for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Performs in-depth programming and statistical analysis of data sets on a broad range of clinical and laboratory studies of interest related to research, experimentation, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure of cancer in human subjects using existing and novel statistical techniques. Identifies programming requirements and assists the investigators/IT in the development of specialized programs to resolve identified problems. Creates databases and performs database management support by merging data from single/multiple sources to produce analysis data sets for assigned projects. Provides programming support to include writing code for specialized programs, searching the Internet for project required information, creation of graphics and table production and other related tasks.
REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a Masters degree from an accredited college/university with laboratory courses in a related discipline, or six (6) years related scientific training and experience in lieu of degree. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States. In addition to the educational requirement, a minimum of 5 years of related experience is required. Must have working knowledge in statistical methodology, software languages and computer systems. Detailed understanding of the Statistical Analysis System (SAS) or R. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance. Experience working with high dimensional biomedical data (e.g., microarray, genomic, or immune assay data) preferred.COMPENSATION
