BACKGROUND:
SAIC Frederick, Inc., the operations and technical support contractor for the NCI Frederick, has an excellent opportunity for a Programmer Analyst I in our Clinical Services Program to be part of a microarray core facility that provides computational support for various genomic studies for laboratory and clinical investigators at the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease at NIH.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be responsible for bioinformatics tool development and maintenance in a well established team environment including parsing and integrating large volumes of biological content from text and XML flat files into our highly integrated public bio-knowledge repository, known as DAVID Knowledgebase (http://david.niaid.nih.gov/knowledgebase); prototyping and optimizing of novel in-house bioinformatics algorithms; designing and implementing computational procedures to support data analysis.

REQUIREMENTS

Associates degree from an accredited college/university in a related field as designated by the Program requirements or two (2) years related experience in lieu of degree. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States. In addition to education requirements, must have a minimum of two (2) years related experience. Familiarity with one or more object-oriented programming computer languages such as Perl, Java and C++ is required. Must demonstrate advanced skills in some of the following areas: OOP, HTML, XML, Unix/Linux, Windows, TCP/IP and system administration, 64-bit systems, Oracle, or JavaScript and have a strong interest in bioinformatics. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.
