We are currently searching for a Bioinformatics Programmer Analyst to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with Lockheed Martin and is on-site at NIH in Hamilton, Montana.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Bioinformatics Programmer Analyst will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, operation, maintenance, and upgrading of genome sequence analysis source code needed for the day-to-day operations of a genomics unit including data analysis produced by high throughput DNA sequencers. In addition, he/she performs genomics analysis of next generation, high throughput sequencing experiments including analysis of results, as well as providing laboratory support for bioinformatics needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced degree in Math, Bioinformatics
o Operate genome assembly tools, annotation algorithms, global genome-genome alignment algorithms on genomic data sets generated by next generation sequencing technology, ABI SOLiD, or Solexa Illumina Genome Analyzer, for resequencing, methylation, gene expression and ChIP analysis.
o Perform data analysis of data ABI SOLiD, or Solexa Illumina Genome Analyzer.
o Program, operate, and transfer data in UNIX, Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh OS X systems.
o Write computer code using the statistical programming language R as well as the languages Perl, C, C++, and Java and work with relational databases and SQL.
o Run software such as Sequencher, MacVector, Partek Pro, GeneSpring, Vector NTI, CLCBio, for the processing and analysis of biological data
