BACKGROUND
The South African Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC; http://www.chpc.ac.za) has awarded a National Flagship project to the University of Cape Town to model the molecular evolution of HIV.RESPONSIBILITIES
The project involves the development and application of new statistical models of the interaction between HIV and host immune responses and antiretroviral drugs. These models will be applied to HIV-1 sequence data from South Africa and from international collaborators.REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking post-doctoral researchers to fill vacant positions in the project. Successful applicants will have a background (PhD) in bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics or statistics; however, applicants with a background in other subjects, such as biology (particularly virology, phylogenetics or population genetics), physics or chemistry, will also be considered, provided they have excellent scientific computing skills.PREFERENCES
Experience of working with high-performance computing facilities would be an advantage.
