    BACKGROUND

    Position in a Bioinformatics Analysis Core servicing basic and clinical next generation DNA sequencing research projects.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include the analysis of DNA sequence data from next generation technologies, including alignment, genome assembly, and genome annotation and analyze data from SNP biomarker studies, including but not limited to copy number variation, transmission tests, linkage tests and gene association analyses.

    The position provides up to 40% time for methodological research and/or software development to evaluate new and existing algorithms and develop objective criteria designed to facilitate the comparative evaluation of alternative methods to promote excellence in methodological development.

    Analyst will meet with researchers and principle investigators to discuss study design and sequence analysis strategies and develop project research reports for review by the Scientific Director. The incumbent is expected to be able to work independently and evaluate new and existing methods, software and computer source code and interpret results from existing analysis methods and analyze the validity of sequence and SNP variation data analysis techniques.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor's Degree is Biology or Computer Science or Bioinformatics.

    PREFERENCES

    Master's or PhD Degree in Biology/CS/Bioinformatics.

    TERMS

    The Bioinformatics Analysis Core is a fee-for-service cost-recovery center. The position is expected to help support the Core and thereby the position itself.
