A bioinformatics analyst to perform basic and advanced analysis on data produced from whole genome association studies, a next generation sequencing system and microarray experiments.
The primary responsibilities are:
1) Developing software or using current open source software in conducting data analysis for a next generation sequencing system at basic or advanced level.
2) Along with the director of the Genomics core facility help design experiments in Whole Genome Association, Next generation sequencing and microarray studies.
The successful candidate must have a background in bioinformatics and must have software development experience, at least to the level of developing scripts for manipulating data in languages such as Python, Perl and R.
Required skills and background
- MS in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science or related field, with appropriate experience developing software
- Demonstrated ability to learn about new technologies
- Demonstrated ability in working with commercial software
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals and groups.
- Ability to multitask, work and learn independently, and be self-motivated
- A record of taking the initiative to solve problems and working to high quality standard
- Familiarity with high-dimensional data mining and machine learning. Background in statistics is preferred.
- Willingness to share knowledge with other members of the team.
