We are seeking a Database Developer/Manager for our Genomics core facilty.
Main responsibilities
This position manages the data submitted to the core facility, keep the processing steps documented and running smoothly, set up systems for data release and taking care of the day-to-day functionality of all the instruments at the facility. The candidate will learn and add to the software that is currently used at the facility for invoicing as well as managing the storage and retrieving of large amount of data produced at the core. This position will work closely with a Bioinformatician in receiving, managing and releasing data.
Qualifications
Confident in working with Linux operating systems, excellent communication and documentation skills, skills, excellent documentation skills, familiar with Cold Fusion, SQL and some knowledge of Oracle is a plus.
3-5 years of experience in software design and development as well as data base design and development. Expererience with managing large databases.
Pluses: experience in working in scientific environment, familiarity with Ruby On Rails, and Agile software techniques, Perl, Python, Java.
Education: B.S in computer science, electrical engineering or other scientific or technical field with relevant experience.
