Exelixis Plant Sciences (EPS), based in Portland, Oregon is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Exelixis, Inc. EPS is dedicated to the discovery and production of high value products for improved nutrition and heath. We are currently offering the following career opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Join a small team of Informatics professionals who operate across multiple disciplines in an agile environment. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with and support chemists, and molecular and plant biologists. You will collaborate with these scientists to capture and statistically analyze data. You will write software that scientists will use to capture, track and analyze data. Exciting opportunities exist to work with large Bioinformatics analysis pipelines and whole-genome sequences within genome browsers. You will work with in-house software, Oracle databases, and industry-standard analysis software.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should hold a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or equivalent with a degree, considerable coursework or experience in the biological sciences and/or combination of experience and education/training. Five years of programming experience with C, C++, and/or Java in an environment that is heavily object oriented. Experience in bioinformatics tools such as blast, clustal, and hmmer are necessary. Experience with software lifecycles, Design Patterns and UML is preferred. Applicants should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a professional outlook that fosters consensus building and collaboration.
