    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent training in biology, who will be responsible for applying bioinformatics expertise in the areas of data mining (sequence, expression, phenotype. etc), data integration, and bioinformatics tool development. Routine tasks include data assembly, sequence analysis, protein function prediction, homolog finding, tree building, and pathway analysis. The candidate will work closely with other bioinformatics functions and plant scientists to articulate biological questions, investigate various data types and tools available, develop data analysis strategy, make interpretations and derive hypothesis.

    In this role the candidate will also deliver analysis results in user friendly and sensible ways, which may require writing scripts or macros to help scientists navigate and understand results. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to bioinformatics process optimization and standardization and work with the bioinformatics tool development team to define tool requirements.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The successful candidate will possess a MS/PhD in (Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics) with several years of bioinformatics experience is required. Excellent knowledge of the latest bioinformatics tools and databases for sequence, phylogeny, and structural analysis is required. Excellent communication and network skills, and the ability to interact with research scientists are essential to this role. PERL required, CGI, HTML, SQL is desirable.
