    BACKGROUND

    Berkeley Lab is a multi-program national research facility operated by the University of California for the Department of Energy (DOE). Our fundamental mission is to provide national scientific leadership and technological innovation to support DOE objectives.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Outstanding recent Ph.D. recipients are invited to compete for the 2008 Lawrence Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Students who expect to receive their Ph.D. degree by October 1, 2008 are also invited to apply.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The program provides unique and challenging opportunities to conduct research in the following areas:
    • Computing Sciences
    • Physical Sciences
    • Energy Sciences
    • Biosciences
    • General Sciences
    Fellows become integral members of research teams, gain exposure to current national issues, share and exchange innovative ideas and techniques, and enhance professional development. Fellows also gain access to a valuable combination of outstanding professional staff, scientific equipment and facilities, and ongoing research and development available at other participating laboratories.
