BACKGROUND
The STRING database is one of the world-leading resources in the field of protein networks, integrating known and predicted protein-protein links for a quickly growing user community. STRING is being developed by an international team at the following three locations: EMBL (Heidelberg), University of Zurich / Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, and the University of Copenhagen.REQUIREMENTS
The Zurich team (headed by Prof. Christian von Mering) is currently looking for two highly skilled and motivated individuals to help grow and professionalize the resource. Practical experience in database and web design, on a Linux/Unix environment, is essential. Applicants should be familiar with technologies such as PostgreSQL, Perl, Java, Apache/Tomcat, Python and with handling large data sets.
TERMS:
Both positions are available as of June 2008. They are offered for a period of two years initially, with the possibility of extension.HOW TO APPLY
