BACKGROUND

The Microarray Facility of the Vermont Genetics Network, University of Vermont is expanding. Come join an extremely successful facility and work in a vibrant, engaged community.

The facility seeks an additional researcher to analyze microarray data and support the research projects of facility users.

This position will be hired in the Bioinformatics Core.

We seek an eager learner who is able to keep up with the latest technology and contribute to ongoing research across the University and its partner institutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform advanced research, technical, and data management functions to provide bioinformatics support for the Vermont Genetics Network (VGN), which entails using computational resources to support research in the biomedical sciences in Vermont.

Perform complex analysis and interpret research data: estimate basic gene expression statistics from microarray data and interpret gene expression statistics in the context of gene annotations.

Ensure data integrity; create and maintain documentation, files, and records; prepare statistical and administrative reports.

Plan, design, and develop research objectives, projects, new protocols, experiments, and grant proposals in collaboration with researchers. Prepare reports for journal publications and presentations; and co-author manuscripts.

Provide training on basic microarray data analysis.

REQUIREMENTS

Master's degree in Biological Science or related science and three to five years related experience.

PREFERENCES

TERMS:

50% of full-time. Contingent on continued funding. A probationary period may be required.

COMPENSATION

$25,000 USD for 50% of full time. Flexible hours, may become full time in the future.
