The Bioinformatics Group within the Research Computing Division (RCD) at RTI International has an opening for a Bioinformatics Research Scientist to take a lead role in data management, database development, system development, software design and implementation, and business development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external clients.
• Identify bioinformatics business opportunities.
• Lead and contribute to proposals.
• Review contracts to identify and evaluate risks.
• Develop solutions to problems where established theories and techniques have not always been identified.
• Lead and/or participate on multiple projects.
• Participate in the creation and delivery of presentations and peer reviewed publications.
• Develop databases.
• Software design and implementation.
• Data integration.
• Computational biology projectsREQUIREMENTS
• Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral and/or experience in computational biology or bioinformatics research.
• Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Demonstrated expertise in computer science, prefer expertise in Java.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate across disciplines.
• Experience with interdisciplinary projects.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully compete for research funding.
