The Sun Center of Excellence for Visual Genomics (COE) at the University of Calgary is looking for a highly motivated Bioinformation/Programmer. The successful candidate will join our group to mainly provide bioinformatics support to a Genome Canada, large scale, Brassica, Genomics project.REQUIREMENTS
o A degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or a related field (M.Sc preferred).
o Demonstrate strong programming skills in java, perl, CGI, SQL
o Experience in applied statistics and practical data analysis is preferred. Knowledge of molecular biology is beneficial.
o Excellent verbal, writing, reporting, communication and organizational skills;
o Work independently for the common goal of a team, as well as to work
interactively with experimentalists and other developers.ABOUT US
The COE is one of the leading and well-funded bioinformatics research labs in Canada. It heads the Genome Canada's Integrated and Distributed Bioinformatics Platform. The COE hosts the world's first Java3D-enabled CAVE virtual reality environment and several high-throughput accelerators for biological data analysis. Our mission is to serve the bioinformatics community worldwide. The COE is located in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary.
