    POSITION

    Data Architect at Northwestern Medicine Enterprise Data Warehouse, Chicago, IL

    BACKGROUND

    We have an open position for a Data Architect at the Northwestern Medicine Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The Northwestern Medicine EDW is a joint initiative across three institutions involved in patient care at Northwestern: Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The mission is to create a single, comprehensive, and integrated repository of all medical data sources on the campus to facilitate research, operational, and patient care reporting. The team is comprised of bright energetic individuals from a variety of technical backgrounds. The EDW is located on Northwestern's campus in downtown Chicago, IL.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are looking for a team player to function on a matrixed team of architects, developers, and managers. The Data Architect is responsible for developing complex data models, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) scripts, and contributing to the overall design standards in these areas. Responsibilities also include interfacing with source system experts and data consumers to define ETL and reporting requirements, as well as communicating and documenting new data structures and metadata to the rest of the group. The Data Architect must have expert-level knowledge and experience in data modeling and database design.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • A BS/MS degree in with at least four years in a senior database
    analyst or architect position
    • Excellent communication skills are required
    • Experience with Healthcare Data Warehousing is not required, but a strong plus
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 is a strong plus
