BACKGROUND
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary team of mathematical and biological scientists affiliated with the Tulane Center for Bioenvironmental Research and the Tulane Cancer Center. Through a series of inter-related projects, our investigators are examining the role of estrogen signaling with natural and environmental chemicals in systems including breast cancer and uterine leiomyoma. Genomic experiments associated with each of these projects will produce a rich library of microarray data, suitable for both independent and comparative analyses.RESPONSIBILITIES
Investigation of this developing collection of genomic data will be the primary responsibility of the successful candidate, who will work jointly with Drs. Michelle Lacey, Matthew Burow, and John McLachlan in identifying both the common and unique mechanisms by which estrogens drive proliferation and differentiation in the systems of interest. This position also offers opportunities to gain laboratory experience and to contribute to ongoing research in the areas of phylogenetics, sequence analysis, and molecular modeling.REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should hold a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or computer science with significant experience in the analysis of large datasets. Good communication skills and the ability to work with an interdisciplinary team are essential for this position.
