    BACKGROUND

    CBM is a fast growing non-profit company including academic and private partners providing services to the biomedical arena in the fields of genomics, bioinformatics, imaging and nanomedicine. If you are interested in working on multidisciplinary projects that span across industry, academia and healthcare, you've come to the right place!

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    With the team lead by Elia Stupka, we are seeking to recruit a system administrator to manage our bioinformatics cluster as well as related db/web servers. Strong emphasis will be placed on the organization of existing resources, performance optimization as well as a broad understanding of activities undertaken by other bioinformatics and IT members of the team.

    The person will also be involved in current expansion plans of the cluster, provision of CPU and storage to other scientific institutions and potenial setup of GRID environments or other shared platforms across scientific institutions in the region.

    Through interactions with members of the bioinformatics team the candidate will keep up to date with the latest tools and software needed to be utilized and will aid their optimization The candidate will regularly interact with his/her counterparts in other scientific istitutions making use of HPC infrastructure.

    Additional responsibilities will include occasionaly assistance in the optimization and appropriate integration of web tools deployed by the team, to make best use of the HPC infrastructure.

    The candidate will have to demonstrate clear ability to manage his work schedule appropriately and to assess in an independent manner the resources necessary to complete projects successfully.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Experience in system administration within Linux/Unix/OS X environments necessary.

    Exposure to load sharing, resouce management, scheduling and cluster management software essential (LSF, PBS, SGE, Torque, MAUI etc..)

    PREFERENCES

    Experience within a bioinformatics environemnt beneficial, or at least within a scientific computing environemnt
