BACKGROUND:
Centocor Research and Development, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Senior Research Fellow- Biostatistics, located in Chesterbrook, PA.

Individual will provide scientific/technical consultation to colleagues and management producing results that strongly impact the achievement of company goals; participate in and/or lead methodological research projects; maintain state-of-the-art scientific/technical knowledge and a high profile inside and outside the company; perform limited administrative duties, as required.RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conducts methodological research and provides scientific/technical consultation with the utmost attention to appropriateness, thoroughness and detail resulting in strategies that enhance the probability of success of global drug development in the given therapeutic area.
2. Ensures proper and timely preparation of technical reports, manuscripts and other documents. Consistent with company policy, publishes work in scientific journals and/or presents at national/international meetings. Has good oral and written communication skills.
3. Effectively applies state-of-the-art scientific/technical knowledge to own or assigned project; demonstrates state-of-the-art proficiency in own field. Demonstrates considerable knowledge/expertise outside of own field, especially bridging disciplines. Introduces new approaches to solution of problems and process enhancements and efficiencies.
4. Keeps abreast of current scientific developments and new techniques by reading the current scientific literature broadly and by interacting with external experts.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Attends in-house seminars. Attends national/international scientific meetings. Presents original work at in-house forums, to outside consultants, and at external meetings. Has good oral presentation skills.
2. Leads departmental review of relevant draft regulatory guidance. Lead departmental forum for methodological review and discussion.
3. Attends meetings with regulatory authorities, as required.4. Ensures compliance with department SOPs and regulatory guidance documents.This is not an exhaustive, comprehensive listing of job functions. May perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
PhD in Statistics or related field and at least 15 years experience or a minimum of 3 years of experience performing progressively advanced duties at the Research Fellow level or equivalent training/experience.
Related Experience:
Basic knowledge of SAS Programming and at least some other significant statistical software (e.g., S-Plus, PASS 2000). Good knowledge of regulatory guidance documents such as ICH guidances. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Has established a national reputation on the basis of scientific/technical contributions and professional services.COMPENSATION
