DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will be leading bioinformatics analysis of genomics and proteomics data for company therapeutic products and candidates. He/she will be in close partnership with scientists at Discovery, Oncology R &D, Biomarkers and Translational Research. The responsibilities of this position include but not limited to:
Designing genomics/proteomics studies and strategies with scientists and clinicians from Oncology R&D, Biomarkers and related function areas, the studies range from target identification, target validation in pre-clinical models, biomarker identification and validation in translational studies, to early and late development; Conducting data analysis using statistical and systems biology tools for a variety types of data, mostly high dimensional in nature; identifying molecular signatures for diseases mechanisms, patient sub-population, or treatment effect of therapeutic products;
Interpreting data in appropriate biological context, and presenting results to all interest parties; maintaining appropriate level of documentation and compliance; Generating written reports, file invention disclosure, prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals; Actively participating on multidisciplinary teams for discovery, biomarker and translational research, and preclinical and clinical development; Interfacing with the internal and external scientific and technical communities including IT, to maintain a state-of-the-art knowledge and to serve as internal experts for management and decision making; Initiating, maintaining and managing internal and/or external collaborative projects; Participating in technology evaluation and software and database usage training.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics, with at least 2 years experience in oncology research or cancer therapy, an MS with 5 or more years experience, is required. Must be experienced with a genomics or proteomics platform with a focus on data analysis and interpretation. Knowledge of drug development processes and functions is an asset.
Must be proficient with bioinformatics and statistical software for gene/protein expression analyses including pathway analysis, and familiar with public genomics/proteomics databases. Experience of programming languages such as PERL is not required but would be an asset.
Must be self-motivated and capable of working effectively in a team environment and have excellent communication, presentation, and problem solving skills. Demonstrated scientific excellence by a strong publication record and/or evidence of scientific initiative.HOW TO APPLY
