BACKGROUND
There is an open position for a programmer/data analyst in the Pritchard lab in the Department of Human Genetics, University of Chicago. For more information about the lab see http://pritch.bsd.uchicago.edu.RESPONSIBILITIES
We seek a talented and creative programmer to play a key role in genomics research projects in the lab. The incumbent will develop new software and conduct data analysis of genomic data and work closely with the lab head and a talented group of postdocs and PhD students. Current projects in the lab include studies of human evolution, natural selection, and the genetic control of gene expression.REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science OR at least two years of equivalent experience required; a strong quantitative background and experience in scientific computing is required; extensive background in a range of languages and systems such as C or C++, R, Perl, Java, MySQL and HTML required; UNIX/Linux experience required; UNIX system administration skills preferred; ability to interact well with coworkers and excellent organizational skills required.
