Digicon Corporation, established in 1985, is a full-service Information Technology Integrator and Provider servicing Network Engineering and Software Development to both government and commercial customers. Digicon employs approximately 300 employees throughout the Washington metropolitan area, as well as several other major cities across the nation.

We are currently in search of a Scientific Data Analyst for a position based at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. In particular, this work is for the NIH's National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI).

DESCRIPTION

Candidates will be a detail-oriented scientific data analyst (biology focus) to assist in the implementation of a Web-based relational database in clinical research settings. The successful applicant will provide support and training to database users, work directly with database developers to address problems and make enhancement requests, and play a key role in gap analysis and the mapping of legacy data.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven critical-thinking skills and demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret biological experimental data.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a cooperative service-oriented attitude.
• Demonstrated knowledge of human molecular genetics (taken classes, have degree in genetics, or hands-on research laboratory experience).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English.
• Experience using Macintosh OS X operation system.
• Knowledge of relational database structure and terminology.
• Laboratory experience in molecular biology, genetics, or biochemistry.
• Experience using Structured Querying Language.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Master’s Degree in Biology or a related field. .
