    DESCRIPTION

    We seek a motivated Scientist, at our St. Louis- Creve Coeur, location who will join our Systems Biology effort in using systematic and integrative approaches to accelerate delivery of agricultural biotechnology products. In this role the candidate will be involved in the construction and modeling of genetic networks from diverse genome-scale data sources, and subsequently deriving insights from the models to develop biological hypotheses. The candidate will apply and develop modern computational and data mining tools for integration of different types of genomic, genetic, evolutionary, and other biological data sources, including functional genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, known pathways, literature mining, genetic mapping, and other measurements. Additionally, the selected individual will interact closely and work together with other teams to help apply gene network data to advance gene development pipelines.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The successful candidate will possess:
    • Ph.D or equivalent in biology, computational biology or a related field
    • 3+ years of experience in computational biology and data analysis
    • Working knowledge of common bioinformatics tools and data analysis algorithms
    • Familiarity with common algorithms for gene network construction, computational data mining, and common statistical analysis
    • Strong interest and motivation in solving biological problems using computational approaches
    • Fluency in Perl, Java, or C/C++, and the UNIX working environment
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should be a strong team player who will work on collaborative projects within and across teams
    • Proven research experience in the field of Systems Biology, automated text mining, and knowledge and experience with relational databases is highly desirable
