BACKGROUND
A new database at MRC Harwell called Mousebook (http://www.mousebook.org) allows scientists to source information on mouse models at Harwell. This single interface facilitates querying of the MRC Frozen Embryo and Sperm Archive (FESA), ENU DNA archive, mutants from the ENU mutagenesis programme, EMPReSS (phenotyping protocols) and EuroPhenome, a database of mouse phenotype data.
The FESA archive currently holds >1400 mouse stocks and is internationally recognised as one of the largest sources of mouse models of human disease in the world. The embryo bank's stock list is constantly growing in concert with the expansion in the multinational mouse genetics programmes. The Data Manager's role is regarded as critical to the the future exploitation of this valuable genetic resource.RESPONSIBILITIES
