    BACKGROUND

    Brigham and Women’s Hospital, located in the heart of Boston, and is internationally known for cutting-edge technology and world-class innovation, focusing on patient centered care.     PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    A position as a bioinformatics analyst is available in the Plenge Lab at Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. The position entails managing and analyzing large-scale human single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and sequence datasets obtained to investigate the genetic basis of autoimmune disease. The applicant must have at least one year of experience with a scripting language (e.g., perl, python) and competency with a statistical or mathematical language (e.g., R, MatLab). Experience with more advanced object oriented languages (C++ or Java) is helpful but not required. Experience working in a biomedical research setting and a basic understanding of statistics is preferred.

    This position offers a stimulating, academic environment, and the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary group of researchers at Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. The project is medically relevant, focusing on a common autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This experience will provide an excellent opportunity to be involved in cutting-edge human genetics research.

    SALART & COMPENSATION

    Salary negotiable based upon work experience.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience in a scripting language (e.g., perl, python)
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • At least one year of bioinformatics experience
    • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
