Opportunity: Postdoc Position in COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY of Transcription Regulation @ Dana-Farber--Boston, MA (US)
Submitted by Xiaole Liu; posted on Monday, August 04, 2008

    DESCRIPTION

The laboratory of Professor Xiaole Shirley Liu (http://liulab.dfci.harvard.edu) invites applications for a 2-3 year postdoctoral position at the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard School of Public Health. The research in the laboratory focuses on the integrative modeling of transcription and epigenetic regulation. We develop algorithms for the analyses of transcription factor ChIP-chip (Johnson et al, PNAS 2006) and ChIP-seq (Zhang et al, submitted), nucleosome occupancy (Oszolak et al, Nat Biotech 2006) and epigenetics (Lupien et al, Cell 2008), transcription factor motif finding (Liu et al, Nat Biotech 2002) and regulatory mechanism modeling (Carroll et al, Nat Gen 2006). We are especially interested in computational analysis of high throughput genomic applications in cancer, autism, aging and stem cells.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Ideal applicant should have:
    A. a PhD degree in related field (physical sciences or biology)
    B. strong programming skills: ((Python or Perl) and (C or C++ or Java) and R)
    C. strong quantitative background (Bayesian network, HMM, differential\ equations, etc.) or computational genomics experiences (DNA sequence analysis, microarray analysis, etc.)
