    BACKGROUND

    The laboratory of X. Shirley Liu (http://liulab.dfci.harvard.edu) invites applications for a full time Bioinformatics Database Administrator at the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard School of Public Health. The research in the laboratory focuses on the integrative modeling of transcription and epigenetic regulation. We develop algorithms for the analyses of transcription factor ChIP-chip (Johnson et al, PNAS 2006) and ChIP-seq (Zhang et al, submitted), nucleosome occupancy (Oszolak et al, Nat Biotech 2006) and epigenetics (Lupien et al, Cell 2008), transcription factor motif finding (Liu et al, Nat Biotech 2002) and regulatory mechanism modeling (Carroll et al, Nat Gen 2006).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities of the job include: design and implement high throughput genomics and transcription regulation database with web interface; develop full-fledged software tools to analyze high throughput genomics data; maintain lab computer cluster and webpage.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Ideal applicant should have:
    A. MS/MA degree or above in CS or related field
    B. strong computer science background (in order of importance): database (mySQL), programming ((python | perl) & (Java | C | C++) & R), internet technology (Apache, CGI or PHP), Linux system administration
    C. good communication and team-work skills
    The following are helpful:
    D. prior bioinformatics training
    E. experiences with analyzing and managing high throughput data
    F. familiar with UCSC Genome Browser

    In addition, applicant must be able to visit Boston for interview without visa application.
