    BACKGROUND

    St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is a premier center for research and treatment of potentially fatal childhood diseases, including cancer and certain blood, genetic, and immunodeficiency disorders. The hospital's mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. St. Jude is dedicated to providing unsurpassed patient care and to advancing the health of children through biomedical research.

    Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Research Technologist (Job Number 13936).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Research Technologist in the Structural Biology Department assists the principal investigator with the collection and analysis of data for specified research projects in an entry-level capacity. Properly conducts specific, but limited, projects and maintains efficient laboratory operations. Our laboratory is interested in how helicase proteins utilize the energy of ATP-hydrolysis to separate base-paired DNA into individual strands during DNA replication. We use structural, biochemical, and biophysical methods to study these motor proteins and their role in DNA replication. The research technologist will also perform other duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate scientific field is required
    • Experience with cell culture, PCR, subcloning, protein expression and protein purification is preferred
