    BACKGROUND

    We have an immediate opening for a staff position as Research Assistant/Bioinformatician for the Institute of Plant Genomics and Biotechnology at Texas A&M University. The position is part of a team in systems biology and will have numerous collaborative opportunity for publication as both first author and co-authors. It is a staff position and thus is stable. It is also a research and service position and thus have good career development choices.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The job duty includes developing and implementing the newest platforms of next generation high throughout sequencing and serve the research community with programming and bioinformatic support. He or she will also has collaborative opportunities in: systems biology, Bioinformatics applications, network building, protein structure modeling, proteomic data analysis and statistical application to gene expression data. We are a systems biology lab and will have plenty of opportunity to collaborate and publish. It is good for the career development of a bioinformatician. The salary is $35K and above. Both job rank and salary are open to negotiation. We will try to obtain H-1B visa for internationals if required.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Perl proficiency. Experience with C or Java. The degree requirement is open to BS, MS, and PhD level

    PREFERENCES

    Some background of biology is helpful, but not required.

    TERMS: Open and continuable.

    LOCALE: College Station, TX.

    COMPENSATION

    Approximately $35,000 and above
