    The following opportunity exists in our South San Francisco, CA, headquarters: Associate Scientist – Bioinformatics

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Associate Scientist will participate in a group that provides bioinformatics support to the immunology research department, engaging in collaborative efforts with bench scientists in microarray analysis, genome mining and genetic association studies in order to identify therapeutic targets for treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Additionally, this scientist will participate in the curation of our in house gene information database, including initiation of enhancements to gene annotation that will benefit the research department. Extensive knowledge of genomics and statistical analysis methods, as well as a solid foundation in biology, are therefore necessary. This scientist will be encouraged to publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and is expected to communicate effectively with other scientists.

    REQUIREMENTS

    A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Immunology, Genetics, Molecular Biology or a related field is required. Bioinformatics education and skills, including experience with Perl, SQL, HTML and algorithm development is also necessary.
