    The following opportunity exists in our South San Francisco, CA, headquarters: Associate Scientist – Bioinformatics

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Genentech seeks an exceptionally talented and motivated scientist to provide expert bioinformatics support for Genentech Research. The successful candidate will collaborate with our oncology scientists in enhancing our understanding of cancer biology through in-depth computational analyses of various datasets, such as those from expression microarrays, SNP arrays and genomic sequences. Responsibilities will also include computational identification and characterization of proteins that can be used as therapeutic targets or biomarkers. This scientist will be encouraged to publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

    REQUIREMENTS

    A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Statistical Genomics, or equivalent experiences, is required. Prior publications in relevant fields are required. Experience with oncogenomics, cancer-related pathways and statistical methods is highly desirable. The successful candidate should also possess computer programming proficiency, quantitative data analysis capabilities and effective communication skills.
