    BACKGROUND

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified scientist to work in a diverse and energetic working atmosphere. The candidate will use systematic and integrative approaches to accelerate discovery and delivery of high value, qualitative corn products via the breeding pipeline. The candidate will work within a team of scientists with large datasets, constructing QTL and gene networks to help drive breeding efforts. The candidate will also apply data mining methodologies and tools to various data types, including QTL, genomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic, proteomic, public literature, and other types, as well as developing and applying new methodologies to various breeding pursuits. Additionally, the candidate will work to create new tools for moving information to breeders and will interact closely with other teams and talent across Monsanto's research groups.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The successful candidate will possess:
    • PhD in plant sciences, biology, or statistics, with an emphasis on systems approaches.
    • Computer skills to include statistical packages and database creation and/or querying, programming languages such as Perl, Java, C/C++, etc., as well as standard MS programs.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary multicultural corn research team.
