RESPONSIBILITIES
Processing, soliciting, and providing assistance with data submissions for scientific data from genome sequencing and genotyping experiments into existing databases, analysis pipelines and associated data flows. Developing and improving the infrastructure supporting these systems.REQUIREMENTS
- Broad knowledge of biology, especially genetics, cell biology, and biochemistry
- Formal Education (minimum: Masters of Science, or equivalent)
- Scripting experience in PERL or related language
- Experience with LINUX/UNIX
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel and related applications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- The candidate has experience moving large amounts of scientific data reliably and efficiently
- Experience with SQL
- Knowledge of chip-based and sequencing-based high-throughput methodologies
- Experience with sequence alignment programs (BLAST or related)
- Experience with XML/XSLT
- Experience with array data, especially expression or genotyping data
- Experience with C++ (or C)
- Experience doing QA filtering of genotype data (HWE, non-Mendelian segregation)
- Experience with the NCBI GEO, SRA, dbSNP, Trace, GenBank, or dbGaP databases
- Experience with grid computing (LSF, SunGrid, etc.)
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript and related web based tools
