    BACKGROUND

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead the Quality Assurance efforts for software projects.
    • Write verification and validation plans.
    • Estimate QA resource needs for projects.
    • Report on QA activities and results for specific projects.
    • Supervise and mentor QA staff.
    • Participate in requirements reviews.
    • Participate in usability and design reviews.
    • Review software development lifecycle deliverables for compliance to SOPs and policies.
    • Write test plans for small projects or components within larger projects.
    • Report results of testing and quality assurance activities.
    • Write new test cases based on requirements documents.
    • Review tests written by others.
    • Work with Customer Services to resolve customer problems.
    • Work with Development to resolve defects and implement changes

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum of a bachelor's degree – ideally in computer science, biology, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics or a related field.
    • 8 to 12 years of experience in at least one of the following areas: software testing; developing test tools; developing bioinformatics software; implementing and/or validating scientific algorithms; programming.
    • One or more years of experience with at least two of the following technologies: Windows® and UNIX operating system environments; client-server technologies; database technologies; object oriented programming languages such as Java; scripting languages such as Perl.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Willingness to take initiative, be self-directed and work in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision
    TERMS: Full time.
