We are currently searching for a Bioinformatics Software Developer to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a permanent, full-time position with Lockheed Martin and it is on-site at the NIH in Bethesda/Rockville, MD.RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will operate in a multi-disciplinary group of scientists, software developers, and operations staff who provide support, training, consultation services and informatics tools to the research community in the areas of bioinformatics and computational biosciences.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain bioinformatics applications (web-based or standalone) to meet the needs of the research community;
- Translate user requests into scripts to streamline research processes;
- Accurately evaluate projects in terms of their feasibility, required resources, and estimated timelines and milestones, and effectively communicate the results to the Project Manager;
- Provide technical support to end users when necessary;
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will be energetic, flexible, personable and highly creative. Candidates MUST have excellent communication and documentation skills to effectively interact with both internal staff and the NIH research community. Candidates must be comfortable presenting new concepts and working prototypes to diverse audiences including scientists and senior scientific and IT management.HOW TO APPLY
