Bioinformatics specialists are in ever-increasing demand and job opportunities are appearing at the interface of molecular biology and information technology. The UIC Online Bioinformatics Program focuses on preparing students for successful industry and research careers in bioinformatics. Utilizing distance learning and an accredited curriculum, the UIC program provides graduates with the skills to become successful Bioinformatics specialists and researchers.
The Bioinformatics Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is the first accredited Bioinformatics Master’s and Ph.D program in the State of Illinois. The faculty is composed of experts in all major areas of Bioinformatics. These online programs lead to a Master’s of Engineering degree or a Certificate in Bioinformatics from UIC. Accepted students may be eligible for federal financial aid.
These programs can be completed entirely online and the student’s presence in Chicago is not required. Blackboard™ educational web software is employed for the online slide and audio lectures, homework assignments, and Q&A via a discussion board.
