    BACKGROUND

    Allegro Diagnostics, Inc. is a molecular diagnostics company using proprietary technology and bioinformatics to diagnose diseases of epithelial origin, such as lung cancer. We are seeking a bioinformatics specialist.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Allegro Diagnostics, Inc. seeks a Biostatistician / Bioinformatics Specialist to assist with analysis of data from a clinical trial to test the efficacy of a gene-expression based diagnostic product, using Affymetrix GeneChip technology, and to assist with the analysis of genome-wide gene expression data to support further product development.

    Characteristic duties include:
    • Develop and implement existing and new computational methods and tools for high-throughput analysis of microarray data.
    • Assist with the design and development of major bioinformatics-related programming projects.
    • Collaborate on short and long term bioinformatics projects with researchers in the lab and support lab personnel in the area of bioinformatics analysis.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education: MA or MS in biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics or another quantitative discipline

    Experience: Qualified candidates will:
    • Be quantitatively inclined
    • Have demonstratable experience with statistical data analysis, including the analysis of genome-wide gene-expression data and microarray data analysis,
    • Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
    • Have excellent organizational skills.
    • Have experience with computer programming and/or databases
    • Proven experience using bioinformatics to solve genomically important questions.
    • Experience with microarray data analysis, familiarity with online bioinformatics tools and databases, and pathway analysis.

    COMPENSATION

    Per hour rate based on experience
