RESPONSIBILITIES

The Genomics and Informatics Programs at the Children's Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School is seeking a Bioinformatician for an NIH funded Program Project grant to study the pathogenesis and possible treatments for the muscular dystrophies.

The successful candidate will be expected to understand basic biological problems, to formulate these problems mathematically, and model them using existing and novel computational/bioinformatics methods to support the various scientific goals of the program's investigators. The candidate will have mastered fundamental concepts and methods in these analytic areas: gene expression; comparative, integrative and sequential genomics; and biomolecular interactions, networks and ontologies. The candidate will contribute/maintain software development and computational infrastructure standards for the program. The exceptional candidate will be able to independently develop novel computational methods to address the program's basic biological questions.

REQUIREMENTS

This position requires an advanced degree in biomedical engineering, computer science, computational/mathematical biology or related discipline or at t least 2 years job experience working in bioinformatics; excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
