BACKGROUND
Join us building Pathway Commons, a research resource for biological pathways and cellular processes. Collaborate with scientists around the world to refine the standard BioPAX language for exchanging pathway data. Aggregate and integrate information and make it available to the scientific world for use in the scientific discovery process. Become part of the revolutionary expansion of biological knowledge connecting molecular behavior to system properties. Two pathway informatics positions are available immediately in Chris Sander's Computational and Systems Biology Group in the Computational Biology Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City. Pathway Commons is a collaborative project with Gary Bader's group at the University of Toronto. MSKCC is one of the world's premier cancer centers with an emphasis on leading-edge research.RESPONSIBILITIES
As Content Manager, collaborating with biological pathway database teams, you will be responsible for aggregating, validating and integrating pathway information and maintaining Pathway Commons releases. You also will work on BioPAX development, test Pathway Commons information services and organize outreach programs for biologists. You have the opportunity to participate in research projects applying pathway-based ideas, tools, and algorithms to cancer genomics.REQUIREMENTS
You have a PhD or equivalent in Biology, Computational Biology or a related field and have an excellent understanding of the biology reflected in pathway representations. Exceptional organizational and communication skills are required. Experience in Java, ontologies, pathway databases and bioinformatics analysis tools is a plus.HOW TO APPLY
