    BACKGROUND

    The European Bioinformatics Institute provides cutting edge research and services for biomolecular data. We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatician to work in the Proteomics Services Team on the Reactome pathways knowledgebase, a high quality resource at the heart of molecular biology research. The post involves further development of the open source Reactome source code as well as data management in an internationally distributed team.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants should have a degree in a relevant field (ideally an interdisciplinary degree in biology/chemistry/computer science) or proven professional experience. Profound knowledge of Java and/or Perl is required. Experience in relational databases, and ideally web application development is highly desireable.

    The post holder must be able to work independently and interact well within a team environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as a working knowledge of English are essential.

    TERMS

    An initial contract of 3 years will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of review.
