BACKGROUND
Reproductive Medical Associates of New Jersey (RMA NJ) has a genomics and genetics research division devoted to improving reproductive technologies and patient quality of care.RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate we seek for the Bioinformatics Analyst position should be a motivated and enthusiastic individual who will work under the Director of Bioinformatics and within a talented interdisciplinary team of biomedical scientists, information technologists, medical staff and physicians.
The Bioinformatics effort at RMA NJ is focused on analysis of genomic and genetic data sets. Current projects in Bioinformatics at RMANJ include assisting in the development of clinical markers of fertility and reproductive health, development of automated methods and software to support large-scale bioinformatics analysis, research into genetic components of reproductive success, and computational biology and bioinformatics support for the organization. Typically, most projects involve biological data modeling and analysis, automated process/pipeline building, database development, data management and maintenance, statistical analysis, software development and implementation, and computational support for reproductive health research.REQUIREMENTS
An ideal candidate will have at least a Master's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or life sciences plus two to five years of experience in bioinformatics or computational biology. Entry-level PhDs are also encouraged with at least one completed postdoctoral appointment. Exposure to biomedical research practices is desirable. Proficiency and demonstrated experience in the programming language R, as well as a scripting language (such as Perl or Python) is absolutely required. Experience with one or more of: bioinformatics for large-scale screening of biological samples, biological data management, computational modeling of biological systems, or statistical modeling and analysis is also required. Excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team is essential.SALARY & COMPENSATION
