RESPONSIBILITIES

SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is looking for a Programmer Analyst III to support the Advanced Biomedical Computing Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The Programmer Analyst III will extend and adapt Biospecimen Tracking and Identification system to additional laboratories and scientific domains. Job will involve developing new user interfaces and adapting existing tools to fit additional data models and accomodate new requirements. Data modeling, migration of legacy data and expansion of capabilities to include connectivity to external applications and databases will also be part of the project. Train biologists in the labs to use the system and associated tools. Work closely with laboratory personnel to collect requirements and use cases for adapting the system to new labs. Coordinate activities with other ABCC/NCI Projects.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or a related field or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States. In addition to education requirements, a minimum of four (4) years related experience, specifically in bioinformatics methods and web/application development including the use of Java. Proficient in programming in Java with struts, object oriented programming, program I/O and other operations in a web environment including cascading style sheets and javascript etc. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

PREFERENCES

Good working knowledge of DNA microarray and other genomic technologies and the analysis of high dimensional biological data. LIMs or other tracking system experience would also be advantagous. The person should also be able to work both independently and in conjunction with biologists.
