    BACKGROUND

    Computercraft is seeking biologists with a background in human clinical or animal model phenotype data. The successful candidate will curate clinical phenotype data from The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Genotype and Phenotype database (dbGaP; http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=gap). Our scientist work onsite at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities will include data quality control and curation, annotation and integration of study metadata (study protocols and data collection forms), and communication with external investigators. Candidates require the organizational and managerial skills to see a study through the process of original submission, internal processing, quality testing, and final public deployment. This is an opportunity to be involved in the development of a new resource with the potential to revolutionize human genetic disease research.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ph.D. or M.S. in a biomedical field (ie: epidemiology, genetics, public health, pathology)
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work with a team in a production environment
    • Strong interest in contributing to the development of public database resources
    Other Desirable Experience:
    • Human genetics
    • Clinical data
    • Epidemiology
    • Experience with NCBI resources
    • Linux/UNIX experience
