BACKGROUND

SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is looking for a Bioinformatics Analyst II (Requisition 140428) to work with our Advanced Biomedical Computing Center at our location in Gaithersburg, MD. This position will provide support in the generation, analysis and interpretation of next-generation sequencing data. Responsible for managing a data analysis pipeline including data processing, QC, analytic, and SNP discovery and assembly pipelines for data from next-generation sequencing technology. The use of a system for tracking samples and linking samples to results will also be included. Data storage, migration, archiving and delivery processes will also need to be implemented to maximize use of available space.

REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in a bioinformatics or related field or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States. In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of four (4) years of related experience in a laboratory and/or bioinformatics setting is required. Must possess experience in genomic and sequence analysis and construction of processing pipelines. Good working knowledge in bioinformatics, computational analyses of sequence data, genetics/genomics and quality control/quality assurance analyses is necessary, as well as hands-on experience in processing and assembling sequencing data, polymorphism discovery, and genetic analysis. Experience working in a team-oriented environment and excellent communication skills. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

PREFERENCES

Prior experience in next-generation sequencing technology is highly desirable as well as experiences in molecular biology and knowledge of laboratory operations, biochemistry, and other areas of relevant biomedical research.
