RESPONSIBILITIES

The Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC; http://www.greatlakesbioenergy.org) has an immediate opening for a full-time consultant with expertise in bioinformatics and computational biology to act as program leader on a multi-million dollar Dept. of Energy (DOE) collaborative project to build a Systems Biology Knowledgebase (http://genomicsgtl.energy.gov/compbio/index.shtml). The goal of the two-year project is to develop an informatics resource that will support both systems biology research and DOE science-application areas, particularly biofuel development, carbon sequestration, and environmental sustainability.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate must be able to start immediately as a consultant. This individual must be action-oriented, have expertise in cutting-edge computational biology and bioinformatics, be conversant in the current problems of systems biology, and be highly motivated to contribute to new breakthroughs in biological computation and graphical display of complex information. This is a exceptional opportunity for the right individual to help determine how next-generation computational methods are deployed to meet the national challenge of sustainable energy independence.
