BACKGROUND
CeMM is an international, independent and interdisciplinary research Center in Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna. “From the clinic to the clinic”: Driven by medical needs, CeMM integrates basic research and clinical expertise to pursue innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches focused on cancer, inflammation and immune disorders.RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the bioinformatics department and participate to the analysis of biological networks and pathways. The successful candidate will develop new algorithms to integrate functional annotations over protein interaction networks, predict protein complexes, and combine internal and public data. The algorithms will be applied to multiple ongoing and future projects in collaboration with experimentalists of the entire institute and other members of the bioinformatics department.REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have a recent PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, or biology, a strong academic track record, and demonstrated research productivity. Solid theoretical computer science knowledge (algorithmic) and proficiency in computer programming (R, Perl, C++) are essential for the position. Previous experience with bioinformatics would be a strong advantage, though we would consider candidatures from pure computer scientists showing strong willingness to learn biology applications.
Good communication skills, independence, team spirit, and a sense of responsibility are required. English is the working language at CeMM. Female scientists are encouraged to apply.HOW TO APPLY
Applicants should submit a cover letter indicating the position code, a detailed curriculum vitae, names and contact details of three suggested referees. Please send your application documents in English to Anita Ender, aender[at]cemm.oeaw.ac.at
